First Funding Goal:  $10,000
First Stage Expenses:  $11,600
Amount Raised:  $11,600

POST-CAMPAIGN STATEMENT FROM THE OINK! CREATIVE TEAM:

We are thrilled to say that we met our first funding goal!  Although Indiegogo shows a final number of $7200, we added nearly $4400 to that through donations at the show and post-campaign.  Our total expenses were $11,600 and so we are fully funded!

All funding that we receive from this point onward will go towards getting the show out to theaters nation-wide, making a bid for the Capital and New York Fringe Festivals, and bringing OINK!  to venues where it can be introduced to presenters.

InDemand through Indiegogo (the ability to continue to accept donations now that our campaign has ended) is not available, but if you know folks who would like to donate, they can send a check to Plunge Cabaret.  Contact us for those details.

Thank you all so very much for making this possible!

Oink! A Pigsical - A True Story of When Pigs Fly!

Welcome to the big first splash of our new musical - Oink!  After two years of collaboration and almost 20 years in the making, we are thrilled to be on the brink of bringing this brilliant, touching, clever musical to the stage!

Here's a little background:

The book and lyrics for Oink! were written almost 20 years ago by Deb Hollander, along with another full musical and several children's books.  They were neatly tucked away and not brought out again until Deb, who by then had been diagnosed with a progressive disease, was too ill to keep working.   In 2013, she showed them to Jen Rodgers, who loved them immediately!  Jen brought the musical to her professional network, including dear friend and composer, Clif Hardin.  Clif was just as excited about the material and, besides, he had just had a conversation with his dog, Piper, wondering if he would ever have the chance to branch out into musical theater.  (Literally, a week before Jen showed up with the script!)

We three got to work.  Clif wrote a beautiful, intricate, exciting score, and we performed a staged reading of our first completed draft about a year ago.  It received a "leaping ovation" and we were off!  Over this past year the show developed in big leaps and bounds with some new songs and plot twists, a new name, and an insanely talented creative team that came on board with us.

We've worked hard to have something to bring to the stage and to Deb, and we have done it!  Read on to learn what we plan to do and how this campaign will get us there!

Prepare to Launch!

This Indie GoGo campaign is timed to culminate in three semi-staged performances of Oink!   They will take place at the Black Box Theatre of Silver Spring on October 17-18, and we hope you will come!

These performances are the pre-cursors to both taking the show to festival performances in 2016, and introducing it to theaters across the country, in the hopes of finding a company to fully conceive it.  We have thrown our hearts and talents into it full force and fronted the funding thus far, and now we need help to take it to these next levels.

To do all of this, we really need $15,000.

$5,000 of that amount covers the development of the show thus far - our demo recordings, website and the expenses of the first staged reading.

$5,000 more covers the cost of the semi-staged production in October - the rental of a proper theater and the basic travel expenses of our actors (from New York and DC).

That makes up the $10,000 that is our funding goal for this campaign.  (Asking for the whole hog just felt a little too piggy!)

If we raise more than our goal, here's what happens:

$5,000 more allows us to fully produce the show for the 2016 Capital Fringe Festival including sets, costumes, props and the registration fee.

After that, your generous help allows us to cover the costs of getting this show in front of theater presenters across the country.

And finally, as we approach Pigs in Space levels of funding, we'll be able to dive into Deb's second musical, "Out of the Blue,"  which we love just as much!

If we don't reach these funding goals, we'll keep going as any good starving artists do!  We'll sing and dance in front of any audience, put out the hat, and volunteer our time.  Every dollar you give will go towards making this dream and Deb's legacy come into being.
